چکیده
Abstract. The multiscale analysis of lineament patterns helps define the geometric scaling laws and relationships between outcrop- regional-scale structures in a fracture network. Here, we present novel analytical statistical workflow to analyze geometrical spatial organization properties Rolvsnes granodiorite (fracture) network crystalline basement southwestern Norway (Bømlo Island). shows scale-invariant distribution described by fractal dimension D≈1.51, with lengths distributed following general power law (exponent α=1.88). However, orientation-dependent analyses show that identified sets vary their relative abundance occupancy scale, defining hierarchical Lineament length, density, intensity distributions each set follow power-law characterized own exponents. Thus, our multiscale, approach can aid identification structure network, quantifying heterogeneity related regional- vs. local-scale relevance. These results, integrated field petrophysical lineaments, effectively improve detail accuracy permeability prediction heterogeneously fractured media. Our results also how geological biases affect they must be critically assessed before extrapolating conclusions any other similar case study blocks.

Experimental Study of Foam Flooding in Low Permeability Sandstones: Effects of Rock Permeability and Microscopic Heterogeneity
Foam flooding (or injection of foam) is a common technology to enhance oil recovery. Although the effects of permeability on foam flooding were well studied in many laboratory experiments, little research has been focused on the specificity of low permeability. In this paper, a series of constant-quality nitrogen foam flow experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of permeability on...
متن کاملFractal Analysis of Permeability of Unsaturated Fractured Rocks
A physical conceptual model for water retention in fractured rocks is derived while taking into account the effect of pore size distribution and tortuosity of capillaries. The formula of calculating relative hydraulic conductivity of fractured rock is given based on fractal theory. It is an issue to choose an appropriate capillary pressure-saturation curve in the research of unsaturated fractur...
متن کاملMultiscale Analysis of Landscape Heterogeneity: Scale Variance and Pattern Metrics
A major goal of landscape ecology is to understand the formation, dynamics, and maintenance of spatial heterogeneity. Spatial heterogeneity is the most fundamental characteristic of all landscapes, and scale multiplicity is inherent in spatial heterogeneity. Thus, multiscale analysis is imperative for understanding the structure, function and dynamics of landscapes. Although a number of methods...

In this study, we develop a multiscale method to study intrinsic damping in nano-structure. Vibrational frequencies in the range of few GHz are considered. Deformation of the structure, at such high rates of vibration, results in a nonequilibrium phonon distribution. The condition of local equilibrium, as is often used in the existing mutli-scale approaches, no longer remains valid. The nonequi...
